Banned Books Read-In

Celebrate your fREADom!

Location

Library and Gallery, Albin O. Kuhn : Rotunda

Date & Time

April 20, 2026, 12:00 pm1:00 pm

Description

Come by the Library rotunda to hang out and read some books that have banned or challenged somewhere in the United States in the last 30 years - yes, really!

We will also share some more information about book censorship, including the difference between bans and challenges. Also, this is the day that the American Library Association will announce the ten most banned and challenged books of 2025, so we will all find out together!

The library will provide plenty of books, but feel free to bring your own - as well as a blanket, cushion, travel mug of tea, or anything else that makes reading cozy for you!

You can find lists of frequently banned and challenged books here

The image features geometric shapes in black, teal, red, and yellow. The words "Celebrate National Library Week," "April," and "Libraries Are for Everyone" are printed on the shapes.
