Description

The GSPD office is soft-launching a series called "Bridging the Gap: Industry Power Skills."

This Spring, join a cohort for two high-impact, discussion-based sessions designed to pivot your mindset from student to colleague. Must plan to attend both sessions to be part of the cohort.

These events are for current UMBC graduate students only.

Session 1: The Anatomy of Professionalism

When: Tuesday, March 24 | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Where: Commons building, room 331 (In-Person)
The goal: To discuss how to transition from academic dependency to professional autonomy. Managing expectations, communicating progress, and establishing a reputable professional identity.

Session 2: The Social Architect

When: Tuesday, April 14 | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Where: Commons building, room 318 (In-Person)
The Goal: Master social DNA and "style-flexing" to navigate complex, multi-generational/multi-cultural teams. Let's learn our communication style and how to flex it to improve our communication skills.

⚠️ Important: This is a Discussion, Not a Lecture

To keep these sessions interactive, prep materials will be emailed to you 2 weeks before each event. You must review these ahead of time to participate in the cohort discussion.

Registration Deadline: Registration closes March 10 at 5 PM.
